Coffee, Birds, & Tiffany

Today while I was enjoying another day off and a AM cup of freshly-brewed instant coffee ;) I noticed that in our front yard around 25 young birds were scrounging around for food. Tiffany, our pit-mix, was eyeing them fiercely, anxiously waiting the moment one of them would be within her reach....She's kinda dufus tho', since all the birds scramble whenever anyone or anything gets within 10' of them!!
It was way cool just sitting and listening to all their chirping, which grew louder with every passing moment. More birds began to arrive in our yard, some in the 2 large Eucalyptus trees, others hiding in the hedge on the side of the yard, and a few curious ones playing around the fish pond hubby built a few years ago.
I suppose if we lived in the country, birds in trees wouldn't be an unusual thing. We live however, on one of the busiest streets in town, only 3 blocks from Main Street, and our house is situated between a 7-11 and an alley.
It's precious to me to be able to enjoy 25 or so young birds in our own front yard! Kinda takes you away from the hustle and bustle of city life for a few minutes..............at least until Tiffany barks at them again.
